Dan is a Senior Consultant at Global Insight, an economic forecasting firm, where he develops internal web-based tools and packages data. Past jobs have been at:
Colubris Networks Zoom Telephonics Gold Wire (sold to Intelliden) Prospero (sold to Inforonics)
Delphi Forums (sold to Prospero) News Internet Services (disbanded News Corp. division) Delphi Internet Services (sold to News Corporation) IDX (sold to GE Healthcare)

Dan is married to Ilana Mainelli. They have one son, Teddy. Other kin include:

Josh and Jocelyn have also been busy taking care of my three nephews for me: Ben, Leo and Ryan.

Also on this site are some chess problems from actual games Dan played many years ago -- surprisingly, the rules of chess haven't changed since then.

Another hobby is crosswords -- mostly solving, but Dan wrote a couple that were published several years back.

Dan is an occasional loser in The Washington Post's Style Invitational, a weekly (some would say weakly) creative contest.

As far as religion goes, Dan is a Red Sox fan, with all that entails: poetry and a scrapbook and even a multimedia tribute to the team.

Dan and Ilana are both elected members of the Watertown Democratic Town Committee.

Dan's friend Greg wrote a Java applet to help him with his travel plans:

If you enable active content, you'll know when to leave for New Orleans.
